Diversity in knowledge is the key to growth. As I changed my career path from Biology to Architecture I quickly learned the similarities of two very different studies: science and art. They both demand an intricate study of systems that all intertwine and work together to create a functioning body : building. Hence, design must be done with a close attention to systems that correspond with one another to work together. Design begins by studying the ground (site), understanding the program, conceptualizing the design,  and applying purposeful material. Materiality is not just an application, it it is more than that. It holds conceptual purpose as well as function.
